HEALING IMPULSES

What is Bowen Therapy?

Bowen Therapy is a gentle, holistic form of bodywork that aims to restore inner balance and activate the body’s self-regulation. Targeted, subtle movements – so-called “bowen moves” – are performed with the hands on muscles, fascia, tendons, and ligaments. These impulses are always applied with mindfulness and in coordinated sequences.

What’s special: Between the movements, conscious pauses are created, giving the body time to self-regulate to the impulses. During these resting phases, the nervous system begins to shift into a state of deep relaxation and regeneration. Many patients report a noticeable release – both physically and emotionally – after just one treatment.

Bowen Therapy is neither a massage nor comparable to manipulative methods like chiropractic adjustments or osteopathy. Instead, it works in a gentle yet profound way: through the fascial network, the autonomic nervous system, and in resonance with meridians and acupuncture points.

It is particularly suitable for functional ailments, chronic pain, tension, stress-related symptoms, or as a supportive measure in states of exhaustion. Each application is individually tailored to the client – respectfully, mindfully, and without invasive interventions.

Note: The effects of Bowen Therapy are based on empirical experience. Scientific evidence for its effectiveness is currently not available.

YOUR BOWEN SESSION

How a session in my Practice works

In my practice, you can simply arrive – entirely without pressure to perform. In a brief preliminary discussion, we clarify your concerns and health topics. Afterwards, you can comfortably lie down on the treatment couch. The session can take place dressed in light, lose clothing or unclothed.

Bowen Therapy is performed with gentle, precise movements on specific body areas. After each sequence, a short pause of 2 minutes follows – these resting phases give your body the opportunity to process the impulses and activate its own regulatory processes. I generally leave the room during the short pause.

Many of my patients report deep relaxation after just a few minutes – often accompanied by feelings of warmth, inner peace, or a sense of “letting go”.

The treatment usually lasts 45–60 minutes. To achieve a lasting effect, I recommend three sessions initially, at weekly intervals.
